Where do I start thanking this many people?! Firstly, the support I have had from the people I work with has been so valuable to me. They attended Elsie’s funeral, texted me, phoned me, sent me cards, flowers, grief books and messages of support. The headteacher and governors supported me fully in my plan to return to work gradually, and let me take it at my own pace. The pupils showed me such compassion, and welcomed me back with open arms. The parents have also been a source of great support, taking part in fundraising and following our progress on Facebook.
In addition to this emotional support, the staff, governors, pupils and parents have played a huge role in fundraising for Elsie Ever After. Between them, they have: raised over £100 in 3 different cake sales, secured freebies from approaching companies on our behalf, are allowing us to use the school building for events, are running races to raise funds for us, have offered their services and skills free of charge, have provided useful contacts and information within the area of bereavement, offered practical help for our events, gifted bereavement books to us, and that is just the start, with many more events planned for the coming months.
I have never known such a compassionate community, where everyone rallies round so willingly. It is an honour to be part of such an amazing team. To everyone involved in Chester Blue Coat School, and all those individuals going above and beyond to fundraise for us, I offer a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you – you are Elsie’s Stars!
